Friday 2nd April - On the way to Hokitika

Friday 2nd April - On the way to Hokitika

It was a proper West Coast day today when we got up - rain and more rain - all day! We shouldn't complain as yesterday was so beautiful!

It took an hour and a half to get to Fox Glacier:-

 where we got petrol:-

and then progressed down to the northern end of town for a coffee at the Café Nev
é, it was a nice place - even in the wet!

From there we drove - in the wet! The country here, as elsewhere, seems to be all native Southern Beech, Rimu and soaring Kahikatea, with the occasional sheep or dairy farm on the flats!

All the rivers here are rivers of rock with a trickle down the middle, except for this one, the Fox - which was huge, but with the usual beds of rock on either side spreading away on wither side:-

... and the steel bridge:

... and then away down to the sea:-

We lost count of the number of one way bridges that we crossed!

Eventually we got to Hokatika - "a Cool Little Town" - and found our way to The Kiwi Holiday Park" in Davie Street:-
