Wednesday 24th March - Owaka Village, the Museum and the Best Little Coffee Bar in New Zealand

Owaka means the place of the canoe:-

Close by was the Museum which was a very well presented display. The ereceptionist was very friendly and helpful.

Here was information about a volcanic rock on display in the Museum that could only have come from Tahiti, brought by the navigators of The Great Migration from their homeland of "Hawaiiki" in 1200 AD!

Just across the road from the Four Square Supermarket in Owaka was "The Best Little Coffee Shop in New Zealand". It was a one-man-band, but the owner was friendly and the inside was very tastefully furnished so that customers could sit and drink their coffee in comfort:-
