Wednesday 10th March - Nelson - Day 2

 Wednesday 10th March - Nelson - Stoke

Today we got up at the usual time, but at Peter and Linda Lowery's Place in Stoke Nelson -

- well that is, Rebecca and Reginald live there as well!

This morning, after Linda had gone to her St. Barnabas Church group meeting, Peter took us on a tour of Nelson.

Nelson is a fertile area. Good for growing grapes, vegetables, fruit and hops. There are remnants of the tobacco growing industry which Nelson used to well known for.

We started off going up into the hills that overlook Nelson Port to look out over Tasman Bay

Here is the Port entrance - to the right of the small island at the right of the picture. Just behind the tree below the island is "Haul Ashore" rock where the "Fifeshire" ran aground

Here is the view out over the Tahunanui district.

There were some lovely murals in Stoke:-
