Monday 8th March - Picton Ferry

Monday 8th March - Picton Ferry

We woke up this morning to also find this park filled up with expensive motorhomes - sometimes I feel insignificant!

We took our time tidying up - i.e. emptying the toilet cassette amongst other things. Then we drove off on the route we explored yesterday along the motorway to Wellington to get there at 11:30am. Our actual check-in time was 12:30, but being nervous beginners we got there early at 11:30am. The lady in the check-in booth was very understanding. Our email papers enough so we got issued with a boarding pass and moved off to our queue - lane 3 where we sat and waited and waited and waited till 12:50!

Eventually we saw our ferry "Strait Master"come in from Picton to moor at the Wellington terminal.

Getting on the ferry with the caravan was quite a big deal for me but it all went smoothly.

Up on deck 3 were all the services that we needed - cafe, comfy tables and seats. We sat down beside a German couple from Golden Bay. I really wanted to take a photo of him because he had the most remarkable face!

At about 2:00pm we were off across Cook Strait

After a bout two hours we entered Queen Charlotte Sound:

At last we got to the Picton terminal - backwards!

We drove off at about 5:00pm and found our way to the "Spring Creek" holiday park - a beautiful spot

Right beside the creek:-
